Strengthening International Scientific Collaboration: Joint Supervision of a PhD Dissertation on a Cloud-Based Smart Health Management System

Within the framework of strengthening international scientific cooperation at the Biomedical Engineering Research Center, Prof Dr. Yousif Al-Mashhadany, in collaboration with the University of Sfax, Tunisia, participated in fulfilling the supervision and examination requirements of a PhD dissertation entitled: “Design and Implementation of a Smart Health Management System Based on Cloud Computing.” The dissertation was jointly supervised by Prof Dr. Yousif Al-Mashhadany and Professor Dr. Lamia Al-Shaari from the University of Sfax. The PhD defense was held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 4:00 PM (Mecca time) and lasted four hours. The candidate, Mahmoud Khalil Awsaj, was awarded the PhD degree with distinction. It is noteworthy that the candidate is affiliated with the Anbar Health Directorate. The doctoral dissertation presented an applied model in the field of smart healthcare, where the proposed prototype successfully achieved continuous and accurate monitoring of patients’ vital and environmental parameters, along with intelligent data analysis capabilities and real-time medical and technical alert generation. The system achieved a prediction accuracy of 97% through the use of artificial intelligence techniques and artificial neural networks. This work represents a significant step toward digital transformation in the healthcare sector, as the prototype was practically implemented at the Anbar Health Directorate, contributing to the support of medical staff, reduction of human workload, and improvement of medical response time and the overall quality of healthcare services provided to the community.
