A workshop entitled “Mobile Communication Devices: A Threat to the Lives of Our Children” was held at the Center for Biomedical Engineering Research at the University of Anbar, in cooperation with the Center for Continuing Education, on April 17, 2025. The workshop was presented by Dr. Muhannad Abdul-Salam Younis, a specialist in computer science, who addressed a set of scientific and awareness-related topics concerning the use of mobile communication devices, with a particular focus on the risks associated with their misuse, especially among children and adolescents. The workshop aimed to shed light on the most significant negative impacts of these devices on health, psychological well-being, and social interaction. It also explored symptoms of electronic addiction, decreased social engagement, and reduced concentration as direct consequences of excessive usage. Furthermore, the workshop presented a number of preventive guidelines and recommendations that contribute to mitigating these risks and promote the responsible and conscious use of modern communication technology. The session was marked by active participation from attendees, whose questions and discussions enriched the presented topics, reflecting the importance of such awareness-raising activities in enhancing public understanding of contemporary technological challenges.
