As part of the advanced scientific achievements realized by the staff of the Biomedical Engineering Research Center at the University of Anbar, the Center’s Director, Professor Dr. Yousif Al-Mashhadany, along with Center members Dr. Hamed Radam Hussein and Dr. Muhannad Abdulsalam Younis, received the University President’s Award for Applied Research for the year 2024. This recognition was granted in appreciation of their outstanding scientific contributions through their research titled: "Irrigation intelligence—enabling a cloud-based Internet of Things approach for enhanced water management in agriculture" which was published in the journal Environmental Monitoring and Assessment, a peer-reviewed and internationally indexed journal. The decision to award this honor was based on the recommendation of the committee formed under University Order No. (2544) dated April 7, 2025, which confirmed the research’s eligibility for the University President’s Award for Applied Research. The research represents a significant step forward in improving water resource management through the use of advanced sensing technologies and artificial intelligence. It contributes to the development of an intelligent system for monitoring and analyzing agricultural environmental conditions such as weather status, soil moisture, and crop health. This enhances irrigation efficiency and relies on AI for remote control and management. Such an approach promotes agricultural sustainability and increases productivity and operational efficiency, aligning with global trends toward smart agriculture.
