As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance its research standing at both the national and international levels, a delegation from the University of Anbar conducted an official visit to the Scientific Research Authority in Baghdad. The visit aimed to explore avenues for expanding scientific cooperation and exchanging expertise. Among the delegation was Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Amer Ahmed Al-Rawi, Director of the Biomedical Engineering Research Center at the University of Anbar. During the visit, the delegation toured several key research centers affiliated with the Authority, including: The Information and Communications Technology Center, where they reviewed projects in digital transformation and artificial intelligence applications in governmental and industrial sectors. The Environment, Water, and Renewable Energy Center, which addresses national priorities in water resource management, the development of clean energy sources, and tackling climate change challenges. The Space Research Center, which contributes significantly to Iraq’s capacity in remote sensing, space technologies, and geological mapping. The visit culminated in the reinforcement of a scientific cooperation memorandum previously signed between the University of Anbar and the Scientific Research Authority. The renewed agreement broadens collaboration in: Developing joint applied research projects that meet Iraq’s societal needs. Exchanging research expertise and staff between the two institutions. Joint supervision of postgraduate research projects, while enabling University of Anbar students to benefit from the laboratories and research facilities of the Authority. Both parties affirmed that this strengthened cooperation will yield direct benefits to society by providing practical solutions to pressing challenges in the fields of advanced technology, sustainable environment, renewable energy, space sciences, and biomedical engineering. These efforts align with current national priorities while preparing for future scientific and technological advancements. This initiative reflects the University of Anbar’s vision to be a pioneering academic institution, capable of linking scientific research with societal service and fostering integration between Iraqi universities and national research bodies, thereby reinforcing Iraq’s standing in science, technology, and innovation.
