Biomedical Engineering Research Center Organizes a Scientific Workshop on the Impact of Drugs on Community Security

As part of the scientific and awareness activities organized by the staff of the Medical Engineering Research Center at the University of Anbar, and in collaboration with the Center for Continuing Education, and under the direct supervision of Assistant Prof Dr. Ali Amer Al-Rawi, Director of the Medical Engineering Research Center, a scientific workshop was held in the center’s conference hall entitled: “The Impact of Drugs on Community Security.” The workshop was presented by Dr. Muhannad Abdul-Salam Younis, a lecturer at the Medical Engineering Research Center. The workshop aimed to shed light on the serious negative effects of drugs on individuals and society, including behavioral deviations, health and economic damage, and security risks, as well as their role in undermining social cohesion and threatening societal stability. The session also addressed modern approaches to combating drug addiction, emphasizing the importance of community awareness, the educational role of families, institutional oversight, and cooperation among security, health, and educational entities. Dr. Younis discussed recent statistics and scientific studies indicating an increase in drug use among certain age groups, highlighting the importance of early preventive education in schools and universities to curb this phenomenon. He emphasized that community security can only be achieved through an informed and responsible society capable of confronting intellectual and behavioral challenges that threaten its youth and future. At the conclusion of the workshop, an open discussion was held during which participants offered scientific insights and recommendations to strengthen sustainable awareness programs within the university and the local community. This workshop comes as part of a series of scientific and research initiatives organized by the Medical Engineering Research Center, reflecting the university’s commitment to enhancing its academic and humanitarian role in serving society and promoting health and security awareness among its members.
