A Course Titled: Writing Scientific Research Using the LaTeX Program

The First Course: “Writing Scientific Research Using the LaTeX Program”

The Biomedical Engineering Research Center at the University of Anbar organized its first training course on “Writing Scientific Research Using the LaTeX Program” under the supervision of Assistant Prof. Dr. Thakir Mahmoud Nayel, who specializes in control engineering and robotics. Held on February 24, 2025, in the hall of the Biomedical Engineering Research Center, the three-day course was aimed at engineers and researchers from inside the university and the center's staff. It focused on how to prepare scientific papers, lectures, and CVs using LaTeX—one of the most important software tools for academic and scientific writing. During the course, Dr. Nayel provided a detailed overview of the fundamentals of LaTeX, emphasizing the program’s strengths in handling mathematical equations, tables, and figures with precise formatting. He also discussed best practices for footnotes, references, and templates that cater to researchers in engineering, medical sciences, and related fields. By the end of the course, participants highlighted the importance of LaTeX proficiency for engineers and researchers in producing high-quality studies and research papers. Acquiring LaTeX skills is seen as pivotal in enhancing scientific outputs and improving opportunities for publication in internationally recognized journals.
